Recommendations for users about wireless internet

There are number of individuals and organizations which use wireless internet, including those users who operates internet café and came center businesses. 

If the service provider is to provide internet with shared speed, 1:4 rule shall be followed. The internet flow that is acceptable with this requirement is provided by wholesale service provider. The internet service provider is obliged to keep the speed of shared internet service at 1:4 at minimum in order to implement this requirement, according to the license contract.

In other words, the system shall be arranged to keep 1Mbps, which is the speed stated on the household contract, shall be not less than 256kbit/s during the peak time.

The Commission reviewed complaints made regards with wireless internet and organized number of discussions with the service operator companies who are cooperating with the Commission to improve quality, such as speed, stability, reliability and planning etc. of the service.

About wireless connection technology

WiMAX™ (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is the trademark of Wireless MAN technology which based on standard 802.16, the package of wireless connection standards developed by IEEE (Institute of Electro-technique and Electronic Engineers).

Main purpose of this technology is to connect customers with global internet network with wide range of client equipment through personal-use broadband (high-speed) connection and provider customers with the services of public internet market. Main standards to be followed are 802.16d-2004 and 802.16e-2005, which are for fixed and mobile connections respectively.

WiMAXtechnology has higher Internet connection speed, more capacity and more coverage compared to Wi-Fi. Thus it can be used as master channel as the network based on 802.16 technology can cover entire city, or the country.

There are some factors which have impact on internet connection speed of end user and which the customer himself can adjust, including

  • Selection of tariff package
  • Filters dedicated for all of possible virus or similar software
  • Operation system settings and proper operation of hardware
  • Driver settings of network card
  • Intermediate network facilities (router etc.)
  • Wireless internet (Wi-Fi) use
  • End point or last mile quality

Customers should remember the followings at all times

All the service provider companies are confirmed to provide a speed close to the “announced” maximum speed to service provider’s technical field (service provider’s server, router etc.) starting from only customer’s equipment (DSL or modem network driver etc.) to the telecommunication network part (last mile).
